Interview with Stanly Durckenmiller.
Do you have any idea where inflation is headed?
No, and I don’t think anyone does. They’ve worked hard to raise rates from near zero to 5 percent, and I’d hate to see that effort wasted.
What do you think about Powell saying they’re close to making a decision but not doing anything right now?
I don’t believe there’s a zero percent chance of inflation bottoming out. The Fed should just raise or cut rates as needed without excessive communication.
So you think a rate hike is completely off the table?
No, it’s not off the table. The Fed should focus on doing their job rather than trying to send messages to the market.
: Is this situation similar to how long we stayed at zero rates during a hot economy while labeling inflation as transitory?
Yes, it seems like a similar issue. The focus should be on effective monetary policy rather than communication strategies.
